Professional process of hearing care
Process of providing hearing aid:

Examination
Providing a hearing aid is always a cooperation of the audiology doctor and the audiological assistant. The process begins with a conversation with the patient, followed by an ENT examination. Only after these a complete audiology examination can be carried out, which measures the air- and bone-conduction hearing, speech understanding and uncomfortable level. Without these examinations a hearing aid can not be precisely fitted!

Hearing aid trial
After the examinations and determining the hearing loss trials can begin. It is important to consider the age, agility of hands, sight of the customer because all these can influence the size of the chosen hearing aid. We do accept the wish of the customer as to choose a BTE or ITE hearing aid but it is important to know that for severe hearing loss the capacity of ITE devices is not always sufficient.

It is important to try more than one hearing aid, which will be fitted to the customer's hearing by computer. We do not like to mention prices during the trial as this might influence the customer, as some people prefer to choose the cheapest, others the most expensive solution. At the same time the expert works to find the most suitable device for the hearing loss.

ITE devices can be tried with a similar BTE version. Do not accept to order a hearing aid without trial, even if you trust the hearing care specialist completely.

The trials take a lot of patience from both sides and may last up to 1 hour. But only this way it can be ensured that the customer will be happy with the chosen device for several years, as after the purchase it is not possible to have a second hearing aid reimbursed within the time limitation.

Unfortunately we are often contacted by customers who purchased their hearing instrument somewhere else, without professional care, and in a few months they realise that they can not wear it in the everydays with satisfaction. These devices end up in the drawer and the customer must wait until the time limitation is over and becomes entitled to a new hearing aid – or must buy a second hearing aid without reimbursement.

Prescribing the hearing aid
It is important to inform the customer about the time limitation, the amount of reimbursement and the price of the hearing aid. Unfortunately they are not everywhere informed of the price of extra accessories or other necessary products (batteries, accessories), so the customer may have a false impression of the price to be paid. In our shops the customer receives a detailed confirmation including all costst.

Receipt of the hearing aid
The hearing aid can be received in 1-3 weeks from the order date, depending on the type of the device and the production time of housing or earmould. It is essential to fit the hearing aid to the customer's individual hearing before the receipt. The specialist must inform the customer about the usage, handling, cleaning of the device; unfortunately this is not routinely done everywhere.

Check-up
The professional audiological care includes a regular check-up of the customer and if necessary, a fine tuning of  the device. Sometimes several fine tunings are necessary to reach the optimal fitting. This should be a free of charge service by the seller of the device, unfortunately this is not everywhere fulfilled.
